Concert – Damin Spritzer – Holy Rosary, Edmonds – Kilgen Organ

Damin Spritzer performs Works by Howells, Grace, Boulay, and Kunc, and the world premiere performance of Damien Geter’s “Elegy” for tenor and organ.

Regarding his setting of “Saw a Starling” by Lorene Cary, Mr. Geter writes, “Although the piece is entitled ‘Elegy,’ there is a duality in its lamentation. While we recognize the deep sorrow in the bird’s extinction and the mystery surrounding it, we remember a time when the birds were living their best lives, flying freely on the island, hopping from limb to limb. We think of a world when that was possible before humans used them as targets.”
